Cedar
Creek Bands 2006-2007
Dear Eagle
Band Parents & Students,
As the long
slow summer continues, many of you may be beginning to dream of your unfulfilled
destinies and looking for an escape. How many of you are tired of getting
up just in time for lunch? Who’s bored playing those same old Xbox 360
games that you probably mastered by June 6th? And worst of all, how many
times have you heard your younger brother or sister say those three hateful
little words, “I’m telling Mom!”? Would you like to get away from it
all? Have we got a deal for you! Read on…
Ah yes, summer band is just around the corner.
Enclosed with this letter you should find two pieces of football music that we
will put together during the week of summer band. Your job is to unearth
your instrument and remember where your lips go (percussion, it’s matched
grip…remember?) and begin to learn how these pieces are played. It is
very important that we all gather together and get in shape to start learning
music for our first football games. If your instrument needs surgery, now
is the time to take it to the repair shop (Brook Mays or Owens) before the end
of the summer rush happens. Percussionists need to bring their practice
pad and bell kit as well as all of their sticks to every rehearsal. Please
call your private lesson teacher and get started with lessons again or call the
band hall if you need a new teacher. If you still need a school
instrument, (hmmmm…. practiced A LOT this summer didn’t you), e-mail or call
Mr. Davis now to get one.
Please check the following summer band schedule carefully. Wind
Ensemble, Symphonic, and Concert bands will all practice together, so if you
need a ride you can carpool with a friend from any band. Please make every
effort to attend all of the rehearsals that you are in town for during this
week. We would appreciate if you would e-mail or call Mr. Davis at the
band hall to let us know if you need to miss any practices, or need a ride.
Remember, we cannot achieve our goals for this year without your
individual help. You are worth a million to our band!
See you soon!!!
