Wind Ensemble

The Bear Band Wind Ensemble is recognized as an outstanding performing ensemble throughout Texas. Membership in the Wind Ensemble is by audition in the spring. This organization performs at invitational concert contests as well as out of state festivals and the University Interscholastic League Concert and Sightreading Contest. This ensemble also performs at special events and school district concerts during the Year. Students must also participate in section rehearsals/master classes each week outside of class time.

Wind Ensemble students will be given a complete calendar of events. Students in this ensemble will perform music from the grades 4 and 5 UIL lists. This constitutes the most challenging music available for public school bands.

Wind Ensemble students must participate in all-region band tryouts in the fall and perform a solo at solo and ensemble contest in the spring. Those who do not participate in all region tryouts and solo and ensemble will be removed form the class. Conflicts with other BHS academic and/or athletic events must be discussed with and cleared in advance with the Director of Bands.

Weekly sections will be a regular part of the class and will begin at the conclusion of marching season. The days for Wind Ensemble sections are as follows:

Wind Ensemble students will be expected to maintain the highest standards of performance, effort, and discipline.

Work, homework, babysitting, driver's education classes, or transportation problems are never accepted as excuses for missing a rehearsal or performance.
