Symphonic Band

Membership in the Bear Band Symphonic Band is by audition in the spring. Students must participate in section rehearsals/master classes each week outside of class time.

This organization performs at invitational concert contests as well as out of state festivals and the UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest.

Symphonic Band students will be given a complete calendar of events. Students in this ensemble will perform music from the grades 3 and 4 UIL lists.  

Symphonic Band students are also encouraged to participate in all-region band tryouts. Students must participate in solo and ensemble contest in the spring semester. Conflicts with other BHS academic and/or athletic events must be discussed with and cleared in advance with the director of the ensemble.

Weekly sections will be a regular part of the class. Section rehearsals begin at the conclusion of marching season. The days for Symphonc Band sectionals are as follows:

Work, homework, babysitting, driver's education classes, or transportation problems are never accepted as excuses for missing a rehearsal or performance.
