Concert Uniform:

The wind ensemble will be required to purchase either a tuxedo (boys) or a dress (girls) for performances.  The boys will need to purchase their tuxedo on their own.  Ladies will purchase their dresses through the school.

Symphonic band ladies will be required to purchase the same dress as the wind ensemble.  If we receive our new uniforms in time, men will not have to purchase a tuxedo.  If the uniforms are delayed, the men will be required to purchase a tux on their own.  Tuxes run around $100.00 and the dresses will be around $65.00.

Concert band students will not need to purchase a concert uniform.

Ensembles:

All students in the BHS band program will audition in November for placement in a band for the spring.  Auditions will be done behind a screen for a panel of judges that will not include Mr. Polk, Mr. Jones or Ms. Snow.  Once a student has auditioned, he or she must meet the following eligibility requirements to be placed in one of the competition bands:

Wind ensemble students can not have failed ANY classes in the semester.

Symphonic band students can not have failed more than one class in the semester.

A student can not move into one of the competition bands until that student has passed the required amount of classes for a semester.  This is to emphasize the importance of academics and reward students who work to keep their grades up.

Band Trip:

In April, the symphonic band and wind ensemble will travel to Dallas to compete in a major performance venue, the Majestic Theater.  In addition to competing, the students will have an opportunity to attend a symphony.  The students will also spend a day at Six Flags in Arlington.

In May, the concert band will compete at Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels.

These band trips will cost no more than $200.00.
