It's time once again for the Girl Scout Cookie Sale.
Lone Star Council is proud to be a leader in the benefits it offers. Girls earn a variety of direct benefits such as incentive prizes and cookie credits which are like money. Cookie Credits can be used for camp fees, event fees, Girl Scout Shop merchandise, educational classes and trips and experiences related to Girl Scout Programs. Girls who earn $100.00 or more in Cookie Credits can choose to "bank" them for college expenses.
All 13,000 girl members benefit from the sale. Revenue from the Cookie Sale Program provides support for girl events and activities on technology and science, sports, outdoor education and conflict resolution as well as also cover the cost of training, supplies and staff support of more than 6,500 volunteers. Although, it's true that girls pay to attend camp, the fee merely covers the cost of direct services such as meals, suplies and program staff. Camp Texlake requires year-round maintenance and so do the 14 Girl Scout houses in the Council. Girls can be proud they contribute in these ways.
Participation in the Cookie Sale is voluntary. This is the girl's decision and the parents. Most girls agree, however, this is an experience they wouldn't want to miss. Ask any grown-up who was a Girl Scout. Some of their fondest memories are the camaraderie they shared and skills they learned while selling cookies. This is our goal for our daughters as well.
